Self Emposed Barriers

I was recently asked this question by Carl Liebenberg on Twitter…“What’s the biggest barrier to your health and wellness goals?” My answer while simple is entailed. I gave him the short response on Twitter, but immediately felt the desire to expound on the subject. This is something I know well because I am well practiced in it. The one and only answer is our limited thinking. We can come up with any number of reasons not to do what we know must be done to regain or maintain our health and wellness. But when you remove the window dressing, the bottom line is; all of these reasons are just excuses. The real barrier is our thinking, our self talk. Remove the “I can’t because” and you no longer have a barrier. In its place say “I’m moving into a place of wellness and perfect health. In this place I am doing all I must do to be all I can be.” “My way is clear and my gratitude is great; I say thank you for my perfect health and I claim it now! It Is Done!”

Continuing to believe we are ill is the place that stops us from gaining our health. Once we have made the choice to be well, we must take action around that choice. We must do something differently from what we usually do. Maybe we have to change our diets, exercise more, take nutritional supplements, see an alternative health care professional, and yes retrain our brain to a new way of thinking. Catching negative thoughts and replacing them with the opposite positive thoughts is one way to do this. This is being a conscious thinker; becoming conscious of all of our thoughts takes attention. Take our thinking off auto pilot! Stop going through life with random results accepting mediocrity. It takes work, but I can tell you that with every negative thought you catch and change, you are making great progress. Each time we do this, it becomes easier. The past is only a lesson learned and is a tool for compassion and understanding. We have not yet created the future; we only have right now. I stay within the moment and create it according to my consciousness. If I am not happy with my life experience, most likely it is because I slipped into the past or the future without recognizing it. When awareness of present is regained and focused upon we are able to create with confidence and know that our hearts desire is reality; “Our Reality”.

Along with changing our thinking, we must also change our feeling. How we feel right now is going to create how we feel in the next moment unless we are conscious around those feelings. Example: Lets say that you just had a bad experience and are feeling angry and hurt. You are thinking about what happened and are focused on the wrong doing (what ever that may be). Your thinking about the others involved and are feeling not only anger but a desire for revenge. Many people would begin to plot how they can carry out their revenge and gain satisfaction from it. This takes a tremendous amount of energy and focus away from creating loving healthy thinking and feelings of love. You put all of your passion into something that will only bring you illness and more pain. You say to me (no I will gain satisfaction from making them pay for hurting me). I am here to tell you that all you will gain is pain and more pain. If you remain in that place of negativity you will only recreate the experience in your life over & over again. On the other hand; if when the experience happens you recognize it is not about you, but it is about where the other person is in their journey. They are creating their own life experience. They create for themselves what they put into your life. They are simply living their own way of being, their own thoughts and actions will be multiplied by the deed and return to them. Do you want to live that same way of being? Seeking revenge only creates that same type of energy in your experience. It does nothing to help you create health, wealth, or happiness.

Now lets say that you realize it is not about you. Lets say you understand that we are all in a space of recognizing our true being and also the fact that this other person is simply in a different space. You now make a choice to send them love and healing instead of ill will. Sending love and healing to them creates it in your own experience. Then you remove your focus from what happened and place your focus upon more positive creations for yourself and those around you. You also look at the experience and find things about yourself you want to change. Because you realize your own way of being brought the hurtful experience into your life. Self reflection is important in the healing process.

I have only one more point to make; perceived bad experiences are simply showing us what we are not. To see who and what we are, we must first recognize what we are not. Use this, throughout your journey and remember your true being.

Journey On,

Rose Louise
